Now that's my kind of professor

Edmund Clark at Carnegie Mellon wins the Turing Award (often referred to as "the nobel prize of computer science"), an award that comes with a $250,000 cash prize.  And what does he do to celebrate?  He buys himself a Nikon D300 SLR camera.  I never took a class from Dr. Clark when I was at CMU, but somehow I think I would have liked him.

I tell Robin the story and what does she say?  "That's a pretty high bar for buying a new camera" (hint hint).  Maybe I should keep stories like this to myself, especially as I drool over all the rumors of what cameras Canon might be releasing next.

    High bar, indeed!

I hope the 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens rumor comes true. I'd upgrade my non-IS lens for that one. (In fact, my 24-70 has been giving me an Err 99 code every time I've shot with it recently. I think it's a sign.)
